What we collect
Account information: the email address and password you sign up with (we store a bcrypt hash of your password, never the password itself), and your display name/handle.
Content you post: photos and videos you upload, review text, star ratings, captions, and comments. This content is shown publicly on the feed and on business pages by design — that's the point of the app.
Business claim verification (optional): if you claim a business listing, we may collect a business phone number, a business-domain email, or a license/ownership-proof photo or video, used only to verify you're authorized to manage that listing.
App activity: likes, follows, comments, reports you file, and similar interactions needed to run the social features (feed, notifications, follower counts).
Approximate location (optional, mobile app): if you allow it, we use your device's approximate location to show food near you, to show how far away a place is, and to fill the local video feed. We ask only when you use something local — never the moment you open the app — and if you say no, we don't ask again. You can use the app without it by choosing a location by hand. We request approximate accuracy, not precise: we want to know your neighborhood, not your street address. If you post while sharing location, the coordinates are saved with that post so it can appear in local results.
What you view and watch: which posts you saw, how long they were on screen, and how much of a video you watched. We use this to work out what kind of food you actually like so the feed can get better over time. This is tied to your account and is deleted when you delete your account — what remains is an anonymous view count on the post itself, which can't be traced back to you.
Device push token (mobile app, when notifications are enabled): a token used to deliver push notifications to your device. We do not use this to track you elsewhere.
Standard technical data: IP address and basic request logs, collected automatically by our hosting/security infrastructure (Cloudflare) for abuse prevention and reliability, the same as almost any website.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, financial or payment information, health data, or your device contacts. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
How we use it
To run your account and the app's core features: authentication, posting, the social feed, notifications, search/discovery, and business claim verification. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We use a small number of service providers to operate iRunReviews: Mailgun (sends transactional email like password resets and claim decisions) and Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, and security). These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes.
Your content, your choice
Images and videos you upload may be shown publicly on the feed, your profile, and business pages, exactly as you'd expect from a social app. You can edit or delete your own posts at any time from the post itself.
Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data at any time, from iRunReviews.com/delete-account or from Settings inside the app — no need to contact support first. Deletion is immediate and permanent, not a soft-delete or a grace period.
Blocking
You can block another user at any time from their profile. Blocking is mutual: once blocked, neither of you can see the other's posts, follow each other, or message each other.
Security
All traffic to iRunReviews is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Authentication uses a session token stored securely on your device — keep your device and credentials private.
Children's privacy
iRunReviews is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the date above.
